Security – A Basic Need

According to Maslow, the need for security comes immediately after basic or existential needs. This refers to both security from natural forces, malicious people, and other threats that endanger our lives, as well as security from virtual threats in the digital world.

Backup ONE was founded to fulfill this need for security in the virtual world. We have made it our mission to protect data and ensure that it is safely stored while remaining accessible to authorized persons at all times. This aligns with the three most important goals of information security: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Confidentiality

Data confidentiality refers to controlling access to data. Only authorized persons can view or edit the data. This is achieved through proper identification, authentication, and authorization of those accessing the data.

Identification (e.g., a username) ensures that the right person logs in. Authentication (e.g., with a password and at least one additional factor) ensures that it is actually the identified person. Finally, authorization ensures that the correctly identified and authenticated person has the necessary rights (authority) to access the desired data.

Integrity

Data integrity ensures that data cannot be unintentionally modified and that data remains identical across different systems. For backup data, this means, for example, that it can be restored exactly as it was.

Availability

Guaranteed availability – this means that your data is ready exactly when you need it. Availability plays a crucial role in backup: To respond quickly to data loss, backup data must be immediately available. Backup ONE ensures reliable availability of your data so you can act quickly and safely restore your data in case of emergency.
