Bern-based Company ELIZA Expands its Data Protection with Disaster Recovery from Backup ONE
Data security and data protection are more important than ever given the growing threats in the digital world. While ELIZA AG already has a highly available server environment in a Swiss high-performance data center, security is now being further enhanced by protecting all services with Backup ONE's Disaster Recovery. This ensures that work can continue within minutes even in the event of a server failure.
How it works: Additional protection thanks to Disaster Recovery from Backup ONE
To offer ELIZA customers additional protection against data loss, we provide our Disaster Recovery (DR) technology to ELIZA. This ensures that the entire server environment becomes available again within minutes even if the primary server environment fails, by restarting all services in the Backup ONE cloud. This provides the necessary time to fix the error and restart the systems.
With Disaster Recovery, the ELIZA environment is protected against:
- Accidental deletion
- Hardware failures
- Water damage
- Connectivity issues
- Hacker attacks
- Malware
- Viruses and trojans
- Layer 8 errors (user errors)
All meta and customer data is transferred encrypted between the two cloud services and stored at the destination with AES 256-bit encryption.
What happens in case of disaster?
In case of disaster, a so-called runbook defined during installation is executed. This runbook controls the boot process of the protected machines.
- The runbook defines in which order machines and services are started
- A VPN (site-to-site or point-to-site) ensures connectivity to other environments
- All protected machines are booted on Backup ONE hardware and can connect to each other through the defined networks just as if they were in the primary data center
Backup ONE chooses ELIZA as quality management software
After extensive evaluation, Backup ONE decided on ELIZA as their QM software. ELIZA impressed particularly with its modern user interface and suitable feature set. This is how the initial discussions came about. With ELIZA, Backup ONE management can replace more than five existing tools, which significantly simplifies and makes quality management more efficient. The goal is to achieve various ISO certifications directly based on ELIZA.
