A secure server backup for the hopefully never-occurring worst-case scenario was and is the duty of every system administrator. As internet connection speeds have increased rapidly in recent years, cloud backup for your server backups has become an increasingly attractive option.
To create a server backup with Backup ONE, follow these steps: Create an account and log in to your backup administration portal (shown in figure). Here you can download and install the backup client for your server operating system. The client will automatically connect to the administration portal. Now you can create a backup of your server, depending on what exactly you want to include in the backup.
The full backup, meaning a backup of the entire server, requires the most storage space but has a decisive advantage: You can restore the entire server (physical or virtual) to a new machine and get it up and running in no time, since the complete operating system is included in the server backup.
Once the server backup is set up, you can monitor the status of each backup job through the administration interface.
When a file or the entire image from the server backup is needed, the advantages of cloud backup come into full effect: You can download the entire backup or individual files from it, regardless of your location. The data from the backup can either be restored remotely to the source machine, or you can download the entire backup set and use the data as needed.
