The second acquisition in 2020: Backup ONE acquires Informatio

Backup ONE AG from Bern continues its strong growth path and acquires Informatio GmbH, already the second company this year. Informatio are the Swiss experts for electronic archiving and Scale Out Object Storage and hold a high market share in Managed Services for the leading storage systems Centera and Dell ECS. Informatio was founded in 2007 and has since served renowned customers of all sizes and from all industries.

The Goal: Managed Backup and Archiving Services from a Single (Swiss) Source

Company data must be backed up and archived. Previously, Backup ONE offered the former, while Informatio took care of archiving. Thanks to the merger, Managed Backup and Managed Archiving can be offered from a single source in the future. Tobias Undeutsch, CEO of Backup ONE, explains: "Data backup and data archiving belong together, both from a technical and customer perspective. In the future, we will be able to offer both from a single source, as usual with individual consulting and as managed services." He adds: "With Informatio, we have found the optimal partners and experts with more than a decade of experience to offer these services in the future for both SMEs and international corporations."

Holger Jakob will join the management board of Backup ONE and continue to lead the subsidiary Informatio as Managing Director.

First Fruits: Two New Data Centers for Geo-redundant Online Backup and Archiving Platform as First Joint Project

Right at the beginning of the operational collaboration in December 2020, both companies started the project to build a new cloud for providing online backup and online archive services in two Swiss data centers. The new infrastructure serves as a basis for future, innovative customer offerings and for expanding the geo-redundancy of existing services.
