🏆 Backup ONE is ISO 9001 certified
We've just received our fresh ISO 9001 certificate. This was issued to Backup ONE AG by SQS following our successful initial certification. As a company that's only seven years old, we're particularly pleased to demonstrate through this certificate that we actively live quality management - otherwise, certification in such a short time would hardly have been possible.

This was our approach
Processes already existed, of course, but some weren't yet documented in an ISO-compliant manner. First, we had to define the process landscape and each process. Basically, we categorized all processes into management processes, operational processes, and support processes, meaning each process was assigned to one of these three categories. Then, all processes were detailed out and equipped with their respective process steps and tools. We were then able to review and approve these processes in the IMS meeting.
Tooling
To design the processes, link them together, and add tools, we were fortunately able to rely on the Bern management system ELIZA. This enabled us to centrally record all processes and link them dynamically, which helps tremendously with ongoing maintenance.

Conclusion
Although many processes already exist, they are reviewed, optimized, and standardized through ISO 9001 and its associated auditing and certification process. This brings a lot of learnings to the company, which is already a great advantage in itself. The time investment that this task requires should not be underestimated.
A big thank you also goes to the guys and girls at ELIZA. Thanks to the guidance of Mark Schilt, we were able to achieve our initial certification in just over 6 months.
