However, in an industrialized country, it's impossible for any company to actually reduce their direct or indirect CO2 emissions to zero. Employees need to commute to work (even if it's less during Covid times), and CO2 emissions are also generated through catering, ordering/manufacturing office supplies, and other consumables. For these unavoidable emissions, we have chosen the strategy of CO2 compensation across the entire company in cooperation with
MyClimate:
CO2 compensation means that we offset our unavoidable CO2 emissions elsewhere. For this purpose, we cooperate with the non-profit foundation
MyClimate, which has successfully implemented numerous climate protection projects. MyClimate helps companies determine their CO2 footprint and reduce CO2 emissions. Additionally, MyClimate provides companies with opportunities to participate in climate protection projects. In total, 7.7 million tons of CO2 have been compensated through the foundation's projects. The MyClimate foundation operates worldwide and has created around 15,000 local jobs through its projects.
Becoming a climate-neutral
company comes with costs, and we were aware of this from the beginning. But we didn't shy away from these costs because we view climate protection as a necessary investment in the future. Those who avoid these investments today aren't saving money but will face the consequences tomorrow. Because we view climate protection as an investment, we don't focus on media-effective, symbolic individual measures, but rather support the professionals at MyClimate, who can demonstrate numerous proven successes. As a provider of high-quality backup solutions, we know: What absolutely must work belongs in the hands of professionals.
