Starting Now: We Donate One Tree Every Day
🌳 Backup ONE now donates a tree every day. 🌲 Donations go to a project for reforestation of the Amazon rainforests in Peru. 🌴
Trees are of fundamental importance for our climate. They clean our breathing air and help keep our soils healthy. But that's not all: forests are home to 80% of all terrestrial biodiversity. A single tree can be the habitat for dozens of animals, insects, fungi, and other plants.
Reforestation of the Amazon Rainforests in Peru
More than 60% of Peru's area is covered by Amazon rainforest. The project's goal is the reforestation of forests in the Madre de Dios region, which is home to 10% of the world's bird species. The buffer zone between the Tambopata Reserve, the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park, and the city of Puerto Maldonado is at high risk due to unsustainable agriculture and needs protection. The donations help maintain the habitat of the jaguar and hundreds of other species living there while also contributing to sustainable income for the local population.
Commitment
At Backup ONE, we care deeply about nature. As a company, we want to do our part in helping to keep the planet healthy for future generations. Our past commitments include:
- Exclusively using power from renewable energy sources in our data centers
- Exclusively using power from renewable energy sources in our office spaces
- CHF 5,000.00 donation for building a primary school in Peru for 120 children (The school was completed in April 2019)
- New: 1 tree per day
Our commitment to forest reforestation is new. Therefore, starting today, Backup ONE AG donates one tree every day. For this, we work with the organization One Tree Planted (https://onetreeplanted.org/). One Tree Planted is committed to reforestation efforts in four regions.
