How long does the transfer take?

Optimal Upload Speed/Connection

First, it’s important to note that typically only the first cloud backup is really large, as this is when all data is initially uploaded completely to our backup servers. After that, using the «forever incremental» method, only changes to the respective data are transferred, which represents an enormous performance gain. To transfer the initial backup, which in our example here is 100GB in size, we recommend an upload speed above 20Mbps. The recommended minimum here is 10 Mbps.

Initial Backup via Mobile Storage Device

When creating a new backup plan, select the «Initial Seeding» option and then choose the initial storage destination. The software will create the encrypted initial backup on a storage device of your choice, which you can send to us by mail or bring personally. We will then upload the backup directly to our servers – of course without having access to the data contained within – which takes little time thanks to our very fast connection. Afterwards, you will receive your storage device with the initial backup back. From now on, the backup client automatically performs the differential backups to the cloud. This saves you a lot of time and resources if your upload connection provides low throughput.

Our Connection

You can upload your data to our backup servers with up to 10Gbps per connection. This bandwidth is sufficient to upload more than 1GB of data per second.
