When we were able to pick up our limited edition of 150 bottles of Backup ONE Gin in October 2022, we held a small internal cocktail mixing event where we tried out recipes to present the best ones to you on this page. If you create your own delicious recipes with Backup ONE Gin, don’t hesitate to share them with us – we’re excited and looking forward to them!
The Classic

Ingredients
4cl Backup ONE Gin
4-5 ice cubes
25cl Botanical Roots Tonic Water
Preparation
Pour Backup ONE Gin into a long drink glass with ice cubes, then fill up with tonic water to taste
Garnish with a slice of lemon or lime and a straw.

Ingredients
5cl Backup ONE Gin
1cl Dry Vermouth
1 Olive
1 Lemon zest
Ice cubes
Preparation
Add ice, gin and vermouth to a mixing glass and stir
Strain into a chilled martini glass, leaving the remaining ice behind
Garnish with lemon zest and olive
The Bitter Aperitif Cocktail

Ingredients
3cl Backup ONE Gin
3cl Campari
3cl Red Vermouth
Ice cubes
Preparation
Pour gin, Campari and red vermouth into a mixing glass
Add ice and stir for about 30 seconds until the glass is frosted
Strain into a tumbler
Garnish with an orange zest

5cl Backup ONE Gin
3cl Lemon juice
2cl Sugar syrup
Ice cubes
Preparation
Add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup directly into the glass and stir
Add ice
Fill up with soda
Garnish with a lemon wedge

Backup ONE Raspberry Thyme Smash
Backup ONE Raspberry Thyme Smash
Ingredients
6cl Backup ONE Gin
3cl lime juice
6-7 raspberries
2-3cl sugar syrup
1 sprig of thyme
Ice cubes
Preparation
Put thyme and raspberries in the shaker and muddle well
Add gin, lime juice and sugar syrup to the shaker and shake vigorously
Strain through a fine sieve into an Old-Fashioned glass with some ice cubes
Garnish with a small sprig of thyme and 1-2 raspberries
Background
2021
We wanted to build on last year's Christmas gift, the Matte Meister Gin 2021, which the Matte Distillery lovingly and locally distilled in Bern in 2021.
Backup ONE Gin
Together with the Matte Distillery, we decided to create our own gin and give it as a gift to our loyal customers. It was meant to come in 'Backup ONE Blue,' and in our opinion, we succeeded. The blue butterfly pea flower gives the gin its special sky-blue color, which transforms into a slightly transparent, harmonious purple when tonic is added.
Team Event 2022
We decided to spend our team event at the Matte Distillery and enjoyed an extensive gin tasting there with fascinating insights into the distillery and production processes. We were also allowed to distill our own gin in a crash course one afternoon. Additionally, we were presented with the first version of Backup ONE Gin that day, and it tasted heavenly!
